Persistent/crimininal cold calling , 1st December

SANDY Town is designated as a 'cold-calling zone'. Sadly, this problem is still endemic and NCCZ signs are ignored. Such ugly signs litter the landscape of this and other communities with apparent & insufficient effect for the most vulnerable for which they were designed??
Therefore, perhaps, more specific, on the ground literature (not expensive full-colour council newsletters)using our own PCSOs untapped intellect, ideas on design, communication and promotion skills in their own literature (or any other media base) would be more effective for the area in which our PCSOs live, know and understand? Allow our under-valued PCS Officers more input in communicating with our community!

A507 between Meppershall and Campton, 25th November

The recently erected 40 mph signs and red tarmac are completely ineffectual.
The road remains dangerous because of inconsiderate drivers.
Requirement: east bound -relocate the 40pmh sign west of Tesco filling station and replace existing with permanent speed camera. Restrict the whole section between Shefford/Campton A6oo roundabout and Clifton / Meppershall roundabout to 40 MPH because all of the connecting routes are 30 mph.
Add a permanent speed camera on the west bound stretch opposite the eastbound lay-by.
This is not a motorway - it links the two of the main suburban thorough fares between Clifton / Meppershall and Campton/ Shefford.

Pedestrian Crossing Silent, 25th November

The Pelican crossing near to Hayhoes Post Office on High St South has no audible sound on it. After speaking to nearby residents and customers of the Post Office I have been informed it has never had an audible tone, which I find alarming. We have recently moved to Bowmans Way moved and my partner (who is registered blind) needs to use this crossing daily, but she cannot hear when it is safe to cross!

Can this fault be fixed as soon as possible or my partner, and others, are at risk of injury if crossing when not safe to do so.

Speed limitation, 17th October

Eagle Farm Road is a cul-de-sac with a large upper school at the end of same. Some 25 residential properties have direct or indirect access on to the road. With the exception of residents, most other users travel the length of the road to the school/Weatherley Centre/ recreation Centre/night school or football field.Sixth formers from the school are allowed to use their own cars.

Vehicular use of the road has increase dramatically over recent years.(500%plus)

The road is long and straight and this allows/ encourages drivers to accelerate, (noisily) along its length. The same is true of motorbikers (both legitimate road users and otherwise) who use Eagle Farm Road as access to public footpaths and the fields beyond.Three public footpaths adjoin this road, one half way along its length and used (although illegally) by cyclists

There are at least a dozen children resident in this road who play out on foot and on their cycles; they are at risk in the current situation as indeed are residents exiting their driveways by car or on foot.

As the road is heavily used at peak times of day by cars and school buses the traffic flow needs to be maintained but preferably at a regulated, slower pace.

Consideration to a 20mph speed restriction and perhaps actual speed warning panels would be most welcome, and in the interests of all.

I look forward to your comment, please.

Repaired potholes have sunk and new damage to the side of the road, 10th October

Repaired potholes have sunk and new damage to the edge of the road, this is a narrow road (no white markings in the middle) and consequently you use all of the road when two cars are passing, this is dangerous as you cant avoid the potholes or the edges of the road which are now crumbling away.

Poor resurfacing/potholes, 3rd October

The whole 40mph section of the B1040 near Biggleswade Hospital is in a shocking state of repair. It has been repeatedly patched up but the potholes keep reappearing. When it rains you can't see how deep they are and you sometimes have to straddle the white line in the centre of the road to avoid them.

Contractor's Mess, 11th September

New street lights have recently been installed along the pathway at the back of St Andrew's School. The contractors have left the area in a DISGUSTING state. The work is shoddy and the tarmac is breaking up already. There is rubble in the road and along the path all around the area they have been working. To add to this, nearby residents were not informed that additional lights would be appearing at the bottom of their gardens.

Drain Overflow (Sewage), 2nd September

Location - Entrance to Thames Industrial Estate, Dunstable adjacent to "Dreams Bed Store". LU6 3HL.

This sewage has been leaking across the pavement for over a week now and is a massive public health hazard. The flow gets steadily worse throughout the day and flows right across a busy public pathway. There has been no effort to fix this problem.

For the 5th time this summer we have an illegal encampment of travellers on Goldington Green. Every time the travellers move on the green is littered with amoungst other things animal and human excrement. When will the green have some physical mechanism installed to prevent this blight every summer.
